HPV infection, Pap smears and cervical cancer are not something to be embarrassed about. Encourage your friends to talk about how they can protect themselves and speak to your GP.

After a routine Pap smear 4 years ago, I was diagnosed with cell changes in my cervix. My GP referred me to a gynaecologist and I have been having follow-up colposcopies with biopsies every year. It's just awful anticipating bad news year after year. My younger sister has just started having Pap smears now and I just pray that she doesn't have to go through the same thing.
